It is designed to aid companies adopt a private cloud much faster. The use of a private cloud allows organizations to use cloud services on an internal network. However, creating a private cloud network can be quite difficult, taking organizations months to do. With Helion Rack, HP creates each system in its facilities then sets it up at the customer’s location. There has been much done to secure the system and tune it for maximum performance. Helion Rack is based on open source software; specifically HP used OpenStack for infrastructure services. HP is a large contributor to the OpenStack project, and therefore has expertise on hand to help with any issues. OpenStack is also used for HP’s Helion Public Cloud service. On the platform services side, HP used Cloud Foundry software, also open source. HP has also installed their Helion Development Platform, which is simply a set of development tools. For the hardware, HP went with ProLiant DL servers, which includes storage and network components. Helion Rack is a great platform for developing new applications, specifically those that will run on a cloud infrastructure. It is also designed to deal with heavy workloads like data analysis and hosting. Helion Rack will be available starting in April and pricing is based on configuration starting with a system that can support 400 virtual machines. Continue reading Wednesday, January 13, 2016 Citrix Exits Cloud Server Business 6:28 AM By Lam Nguyen 0 Comment Citrix is starting 2016 by selling its CloudPlatform business unit. Citrix announced on January 11th that it is selling the CloudPlatform and CloudPortal Business Manager product lines to Accelerite, which is a business unit of Persistent Systems. Financial terms of the deal are not being publicly disclosed at this time. "We at Citrix are extremely confident that Accelerite will help nurture our customers, who are heavily invested in running their public, commercial clouds on these solutions and will allow Citrix to focus on our core priorities around the secure delivery of apps and data," Steve Wilson VP and GM, Converged Infrastructure at Citrix, wrote in a blog post. "Citrix will work closely with Accelerite to build on CloudPlatform integrations with XenServer, NetScaler and Citrix Workspace Cloud." The CloudPlatform technology is based on the Apache CloudStack open-source project that Citrix helped to start. Citrix contributed the CloudStack code to the Apache Software Foundation in April of 2012. The CloudStack technology itself came to Citrix by way of the acquisition of cloud.com in July 2011. Citrix has had a mixed relationship with the OpenStack community over the last five years. Initially the company was a big supporter by way of its Project Olympus effort, but backed away in 2012 in favor of CloudStack. In 2013, Sameer Dholakia, who at the time was the group vice president and general manager of cloud platforms at Citrix, did a video interview where he explained how Citrix would be supporting OpenStack as well as CloudStack. Over the last several years, Citrix has had somewhat of a personnel shift too, with former cloud.com executives leaving the company. Among them were Shannon Williams and Sheng Liang, who have since gone on to found container startup Rancher Labs. For its part, Accelerite sees a need for cloud infrastructure even in a world where developers are increasingly adopting containers. "Although we see an increase in both the acceptance and adoption of containers in today’s clouds, large gaps still exist in an enterprise’s ability to deploy and manage containers in these environments," Nara Rajagopalan, CEO of Accelerite, said in a statement. "CloudPlatform, with its simplicity and ease-of-use along with its tremendous customer base, is a great platform for enterprises to use to address this emerging need to help evolve the cloud into its next phase of hyper-convergence." Citrix Isn't Completely Leaving the Cloud With Citrix now selling off its CloudPlatform assets, the company isn't leaving the cloud altogether. Wilson commented that Citrix's cloud strategy is dedicated to supporting a range of technologies that enable customers to choose public, private or hybrid cloud technology. "We will continue to work with both the OpenStack and CloudStack open source communities to ensure our products are optimized for offerings based on those projects," Wilson stated. "Core product offerings in our cloud computing portfolio include NetScaler, XenServer and Citrix Workspace Cloud." Continue reading Tuesday, December 29, 2015 The hybrid cloud is the standard 12:21 PM By Lam Nguyen 0 Comment Virtualization makes no Private Cloud The type of use but there are huge differences: The majority of companies uses Services from the Private Cloud or Hosted private cloud - that is, on its own or on a rented exclusively with a provider infrastructure. Low key, users are still, when it comes to services from the public cloud, which uses far only just over half of the companies, according to IDC research. Link Hybrid Clouds, the services from the public cloud with the private cloud or on-premise infrastructure, then the percentage of users are planned in use or about 70. This is the original idea, namely the Cloud Computing closely associated with the term outsourcing and the purchase of external IT services, contrary. Because benefits such as cost savings of the public cloud for hardware (in IaaS Model), which are only needed temporarily for test and development environments or at peak times, go with the self-operated private cloud naturally into the void. Likewise, the simple administration and the delivery of applications from the public cloud can be in SaaS Model not realized in a private cloud environment. Photo: IDC Matthias Kraus, research analyst at market researcher IDC: "It is already cloud computing a reality in German companies - but the ongoing transformation process through digitization, increasing mobility, the Internet of Things and Big Data Analytics companies are pushing more and more towards cloud computing and services. " A self-service portal for departments Nevertheless, private clouds bring the company measurable benefits. The idea of ??the private cloud is that by Virtualization the server environment and thestandardization of corporate IT services, the IT department compared to the internal users is positioned as a service provider in relation to its external customers. At best, this the departments through a self-service portal will be able to book the they need IT resources and use immediately. However, the expansion stage of the Private Cloud in the company is very different. "But the virtualization of server infrastructure does not make a private cloud service, it can be found only few companies which have their users all or even the most important IT services in the form provide modular, standardized and scalable services available, "says IDC analyst Kraus. Still safety concerns in the public cloud Despite still existing security concerns and the use of services from the public cloud is growing steadily. Here are increasingly both services after the IaaS model, ie the renting of computing power or storage space from Public Cloud , As well as the SaaS model used as einsetzbereite application. When it comes to an IaaS to include additional resources that are needed only temporarily as for seasonal business or for occasional peak loads. On the other hand cloud-based IaaS solutions are also used for long term data backup, archiving, disaster recovery and business continuity solutions increasingly. "Fundamental question of a use of SaaS solutions is no longer" At the SaaS are there, hardly surprising, especially applications for site-border cooperation, such as e-mail, messaging, groupware or collaboration solutions that are sourced from the public cloud. But also CRM and telephony and VoIP solutions come increasingly from the cloud. Sebastian Paas , A partner at the consulting firm KPMG, commented in the KPMG study "Cloud Monitor 2015:" In many industries, the fundamental question is no longer for a use of SaaS solutions. Rather, the question to the fore, for which areas of the company's SaaS solutions bring the highest competitive advantage, without losing sight of the risks. " Continue reading Monday, December 28, 2015 IT Trends 2016: Cloud Computing, Server and Storage 1:45 PM By Blogger 0 Comment The IT landscape is currently undergoing a radical change. New technologies from all areas of IT such as cloud computing, servers and storage are forcing IT managers to bring up to date to act quickly to their "traditional IT". Managed Public Clouds With the opening of the German Amazon Web Services (AWS) region last October in Frankfurt the public cloud has arrived in Germany. Is underlined their importance by numerous customer references and partly innovative use cases. But not only AWS will continue to make in the coming year a furore. Also of IBM SoftLayer, Salesforce, ProfitBricks and especially Microsoft, which now enter with its own data centers in the German market, we can expect some surprises in 2016th The fight for the public cloud has broken out in Germany and the recently fallen Safe Harbor judgment will play its part! For an exciting story, however, include multiple protagonists. The main role in the public cloud take once more an IT user. A high degree of complexity in the utility - keyword: cloud knowledge - and a hitherto unclear communication of responsibilities - keyword: self-service / Shared Responsibility - cause confusion and interfere with the public cloud adaptation. The white knight that will defuse the situation both for the providers and the users, the Managed Public Cloud Provider (MPCP). MPCPs develop and operate the systems, applications and virtual environments of their customers on the public cloud infrastructures. You order from the same lack of knowledge of cloud business and solve the problem of shared responsibility. Hybrid cloud and multi-cloud integration As part of the digital transformation of their company CIOs face the challenge, in addition to the introduction of new infrastructure and IT environments to support modern workloads, their legacy and Compliant-critical systems is not negligible. In the recent past has shown, therefore, that to a modern IT environment are two worlds: the Dynamic IT and Static IT. What is already apparent: Dynamic IT environments, mainly based on public cloud implemented environments, are built not only to a single provider. Instead, diversity is needed. Because of the one-stop shop with the ideal cloud portfolio does not exist. On top of that innovations can only buy from different vendors and per se do not put all your eggs are in one nest. CIOs should have two approaches. These include the multi-cloud management, in which applications and systems based on IaaS -, PaaS, and - SaaS operating environments, does not necessarily have to be integrated with each other. Nevertheless, there is a big challenge to keep track of all cloud services and offerings used. Based on the hybrid integration go CIOs a serious step. Finally, the real added value of cloud systems arises only when these are interlinked, able to work on a common database or mutually exchange data. So it should actually be taken for granted, for example, that a cloud-based CRM service can access the data of an ERP system. The multi-cloud integration forms the premier class. These companies use a colorful mix of different cloud types - infrastructure, platform and software services - they use part self-sufficient, however, to integrate on a uniform basis for much of each other. About this cloud Zoning (Digital Platform Fabric) it is on one hand to ensure the unconditional interaction, on the other hand to maintain an overview. Platform Services Architectures based on Micro Services are the trend when it comes to the development of modern system and application landscapes. By breaking up applications at the atomic level of individual processes and functions ("Micro Services") to update or patch relate only to individual parts of the system and never to the whole application. Thus innovations with short "single Micro Services easily be replaced by new and Time to Market" will be realized. During the development of a micro-service architecture, it is primarily a matter to focus on their application architecture and to develop their own Micro Services. For building up the necessary skills and the right staff can be found today but still not an easy task. The Platform services, a trend has strengthened in recent years with which CIOs and CTOs can support their developer teams with already finished Micro Services. Public cloud IaaS providers such as Amazon Web Services or Microsoft Azure drive the trend ahead decisively. A Platform service encapsulates a completed functionality and is independently developed and operated. It involves a small self-contained software component (service), which provides a partial function within a large, distributed software application. With these useful services, applications can be developed faster because the components no longer need to be developed and can be instead directly use as building blocks in their own source code. For developers and IT departments can concentrate on the development of the actual core functionality of their application and can react with these Enablement services to better meet the needs of the departments and thus ensure a faster time to market. Continue reading 12:11 PM By Blogger 0 Comment Microsoft's focus on the cloud for enterprises has led the company to build its own version of Linux for data center networking called Azure Cloud Switch (ACS). ACS is a cross-platform modular operating system built on top of Linux, which allows developers to debug, fix and test software bug "faster" in addition to offering the ability to "downgrade" and develop cloud datacentres based on generally require. "At Microsoft, we believe there are many good switch hardware platform available in the market, with a healthy competition between many vendors push innovation, increased speed, and cost reduction," said a blog post by the Azure Network main architect Kamala Subramaniam. "However, what cloud and enterprise network found the challenge is integrating radically different software running on each of the different types of switches into the network cloud management platform-wide," he said. ACS is set to fix this problem by "integrating different software runs on any radically different types of switches into the network cloud management platform-wide." According to Microsoft, Azure Cloud enefits Switch will provide software developers with easy configuration and management by integrating with the Microsoft System Diagnostics and monitoring. The ACS network is open will also allow users to "exploit new hardware is faster" and run it on multiple platforms. "The Azure Cloud Switch (ACS) is our robberies in building our own software to run network devices such as switches. This is a cross-platform modular operating system for the data center networks built on top of Linux, "Subramaniam continued, adding that it allows" the flexibility to lower software and develop the features needed for data centers and network needs. "" we're talking about ACS public because we believe this approach disaggregating software switch of switch hardware will continue to be a growing trend in the networking industry and we would like to contribute insights and experiences from this trip we started here, "pungkasnya.
